About Raw Metal Edge
Raw Metal Edge is an independent buying-guide site about reciprocating saws and oscillating multi-tools, the two power tools most homeowners reach for when a cut gets awkward.
We write for people tearing out a vanity, trimming a door jamb, cutting a rusted pipe or clearing low branches. Our goal is to help you match the tool to the job before you spend money.
What we cover
Our guides cover full-size, one-handed and corded reciprocating saws, plus cordless and corded oscillating tools. We look at models from Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi, Dremel and a few lower-cost brands.
We also cover the jobs themselves: metal, PVC pipe, tile, grout, tree roots and branches. Matchups like Sawzall or Hackzall and Atomic or XR get their own pages.
How we put a guide together
We read the specs, features and maker information for every tool we cover. Then we look at what owners report after using it for real jobs.
From that, we write plain guides, side-by-side comparisons and clear picks. Our How we research page explains each step.
What we don't do
We don't make or sell saws, multi-tools or blades. No brand pays us to rank its products.
Raw Metal Edge isn't affiliated with Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, Ryobi, Dremel or any other tool maker.
We don't claim to have tested every tool ourselves. When we pick one, we explain why, based on its specs, its features and owner feedback.
We don't replace the manual. Saws and multi-tools can cause serious injury, so always follow the maker's instructions.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which tools we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
